BASIC Bank Limited is a state owned bank that started its banking operation on 21st January in 1989. Being the policy makers of the country the main aim of the bank was financing small scale Industries (SSIs) in the Bangladesh. The objectives of the bank are unique as it is a mixture of commercial and development bank. The bank formed Green Banking Policy and then formulated also. The goal behind the Green Banking Policy is encouraging eco-friendly business activities as well as energy efficient industries. Currently the bank has 63 branches in all over the Bangladesh.
Launching the Micro Credit Scheme the bank is providing employment for the poor mainly in urban and suburban areas. The bank delivers Micro Credit Scheme facility to the NGOs. The Bank is continuously providing services in the area of remittance, guarantee, underwriting, public offering of shares etc. Providing funds to investment and leasing companies are also included here.
